“metal so pure – so precise, so shredding, so full of doom – there’s almost something hyper-real about it.”
-Rolling Stone

“their more ambitious and expansive album to date”
-Outburn

Texas metal titans TheSword have just unleashed their gorgeous outer space video for “Lawless Lands,” directed by Artificial Army. It is the second part of the video trilogy they’ve filmed for their new album, Warp Riders (out now onKemado Records). If you didn’t catch the premiere atSPIN.com, click HERE to watch it. The clip is a 70’s sci-fi inspired trip that provides a visual companion to the album’s epic storyline, though it’s just as fun to watch without following the plot. Having opened for legends like Metallica, Ozzy, andMotorhead, and with songs featured in multiple editions of Guitar Hero, The Sword have cemented their reputation as one of the most significant metal bands of their generation. The guys are currently on a headlining US tour in support of Warp Riders, which debuted at #49 on the Billboard Top 200.The album was produced byMatt Bayles (Mastodon,Pearl Jam, Isis) and finds the band expanding beyond pure metal to incorporate hard rock a la Thin Lizzy and ZZ Top into their scorching sound.

THE BLACK KEYS CONFIRM SUMMER TOUR DATES TOUR SUPPORTS NEW ALBUM BROTHERS DUE MAY 18 ON NONESUCH RECORDS INCLUDES NEWLY ADDED 2ND SUMMERSTAGE SHOW

“…earth-shaking…”—New Yorker

The Black Keys will support their highly anticipated new album, Brothers—due out May 18 on Nonesuch Records—with a summer tour beginning June 2 in Salt Lake City. The tour will include a newly added second show at Central Park’s SummerStage on July 28 that follows the band’s July 27 performance, which quickly sold out. Presale tickets for the tour dates will go on sale Tuesday, March 30. Those who purchase presale tickets through the band’s website (www.theblackkeys.com) will receive a special bundle, which includes a copy of Brothers upon release (either digital only or digital and physical—CD or vinyl). Additionally, presale tickets will come with an instant download of two tracks from Brothers—“Tighten Up” and “Next Girl.” The Black Keys will also be playing select dates in April and May, highlighted by an opening slot for Pearl Jam at Madison Square Garden on May 20, as well as performances on the “Late Show with David Letterman” on May 25 and “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” on May 26. Please see reverse for tour dates.

Brothers arrives on the heels of three other acclaimed projects the band released in the past year: Dan Auerbach’s solo effort, Keep It Hid, the debut LP from Patrick Carney’s band Drummer, and Blakroc, a collaboration between The Black Keys and renowned MCs including RZA, Mos Def, Q-Tip, and Raekwon.

The new album includes the Danger Mouse-produced song “Tighten Up” (streaming now on the band’s MySpace: myspace.com/theblackkeys) and a cover of the Jerry Butler classic “Never Gonna Give You Up.” The remaining songs on Brothers are written, performed and produced by The Black Keys. Carney admits Brothers is the album they’ve always wanted to make and taps into their creative force as a duo. “Dan and I grew up a lot as individuals and musicians prior to making this album. Our relationship was tested in many ways but at the end of the day, we’re brothers, and I think these songs reflect that.”

Carney and Auerbach recorded the bulk of the album at the legendary Alabama studio Muscle Shoals with additional sessions at Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound System in Akron, OH and The Bunker in Brooklyn, NY. Muscle Shoals, an old building located in the sparse Alabama town that lends the studio its name, has produced iconic recordings from The Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin, and Wilson Pickett, among many others. Of the album, Auerbach says, “We like spooky sounds…like Alice Coltrane, where a dark groove is laid down. That’s the headspace we tried to get into for this record.”

With the exception of a handful of tracks, co-production duties were handled by Mark Neill. The record was mixed by Tchad Blake. Carney explains the sound the band wanted for this record: “We are big fans of Tchad Blake. The way he approaches mixing is the same way we approach making music. Respecting the past while being in the present. The mixes he did for us on Blakroc impressed us so much we knew he had to mix Brothers.

Hooray For Earth sign to Dovecote Records Re-Packaged MOMO EP releasing June 1st Listen to "Surrounded By Your Friends" from the MOMO EP

New York City and Boston-based foursome Hooray For Earth are thrilled to announce their signing to Dovecote Records and re-release of their MOMO EP June 1st through their new label home. Originally only digitally available as a 5-song EP through the exclusive eMusic Selects program, Dovecote's reissue will be available on CD, special clear vinyl, and digitally and sees the addition of sixth track, "Rolling/Nectarine," which features Jessica and Cristi Jo Zambri of Zambri.

"We met them for beers, and based on our mutual love of Enya and flourescent-colored Ibanez guitars, we quickly decided Dovecote Records would be the best label to release our EP," confesses band leader Noel Heroux of the signing.

Hooray For Earth formed in Boston, MA in 2005 and soon after self-released their rock-leaning eponymous debut album in 2006. When band leader Noel Heroux moved to New York City after the release of their
Cellphone EP (Dopamine) in 2008, the city's bustling energy instantly inspired him to explore his electronic leanings, using a love of Eno, Aphex Twin and Autechre to create his own style of synthesizer processing. The result is an EP that expertly blends crunchy rock with layered electronic pop and countless influences in between. A wash of warm synths coasting under Heroux's languid delivery opens MOMO on single "Surrounded By Your Friends," a combination so inviting it was picked for play on Good Morning America. "Comfortable, Comparable" follows with rollicking keyboards and perky drums, while distorted guitars buzz over heavy-hitting rhythm and 60s-style vocal harmonies on "Form."

Hooray For Earth is Noel Heroux (vocals, guitar), Christopher Principe (bass, backing vocals), Gary Benacquista (guitar, keyboard) and Joseph Ciampini (drums, backing vocals) with
MOMO co-producer Josh Ascalon as part-time live-percussionist. The band has played with Passion Pit, Deer Tick, Holy Fuck, Mission Of Burma, Shilpa Ray and Her Happy Hookers, Oh No Ono, and Depreciation Guild in the past and will tour the US in support of MOMO's release this spring. In the meantime, check out Hooray For Earth's recent feature on ABC's Amplified HERE or video for "Surrounded By Your Friends" HERE.

"The Boston rockers spew big guitar noise, crafty synths, gripping melodies, and intricate aural theatrics with massive style and ridiculous aplomb. They need to be famous." --
The Boston Globe

"A little bit 80s synth pop, a little bit indie rock and a hell of a good time." --
New York Press

Kaki King is releasing her new album Junior on April 13th - Music Hall of Williamsburg April 15th - Bowery Ballroom April 16th

"I never made records for other people," she says. "My evolution from record to record has been personal not commercial."

Junior is Kaki King's first album for this new decade, following a previous 10 year-period that has brought nothing but critical acclaim and fan admiration for the Atlanta, Georgia native. It was a decade that saw the release of her 2003 Velour Recordings debut album Everybody Loves You, followed by Legs To Make Us Longer (2004)Until We Felt Red (2006) and Dreaming of Revenge (2008). Named a "Guitar God" by Rolling Stone (making her the first female musician to earn that recognition), King has toured worldwide and made the rounds on the late-night talk shows including The Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night with Conan O'Brien.

King was nominated for a Golden Globe for her score for the 2007 Sean Penn-directed film Into the Wild. She continues to work in film today, and is currently writing scores for various projects. Also in 2007, King performed with Dave Grohl on a song called "Ballad of The Beaconsfield Miners" on the Best Rock Album Grammy-winning Foo Fighters record, Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace. During a sold-out Foo's show at London's O2 Arena, Grohl invited King on stage to perform the song and introduced by saying: "There are some guitar players that are good. There are some guitar players that are really f'n good. And then there is Kaki King." In 2008, King recorded with The Mountain Goats for the Black Pear Tree EP. The guitarist has also recently collaborated with uber-producer Timbaland to produce a song featuring Miley Cyrus.

DANGERBIRD RECORDS SIGNS HOT HOT HEAT

BAND’S FOURTH STUDIO LP DUE THIS SUMMER

LOS ANGELES, March 11th, 2010 Dangerbird Records is proud to welcome Vancouver’s Hot Hot Heat to their expanding family. Hot Hot Heat arrived on our doorstep with the best album of their career,” revealsJeff Castelaz, co-founder/CEO of Dangerbird Records. “When we heard the new record, we wanted them to be part of our gang. When we talked to them, and heard the determination and clarity of purpose in their voices, we had to have them.” The Silver Lake-based label will release the band’s fourth full-length, Future Breeds, this summer.

For frontman Steve Bays and his Hot Hot Heat bandmates, they knew they had found their new home immediately after their first meeting with the label. “Dangerbird got our vibe right away,” explains Bays. “Because of the kind of record we were making, we realized early on that we needed to finish the entire record before looking for a home for it, if they 'got it,' then we could talk. Also, they’re also just really cool people and that's huge to us because, at the end of the day, they are essentially inviting us to join their family. We are pretty thrilled.”

Hailing from Vancouver, British Columbia, Hot Hot Heat first came to prominence in 2002 with their breakthrough debut LP, Make Up The Breakdown, an electrifying dose of urgent, dancey rock anchored by frontman Steve Bays’ characteristic yelp and highly infectious melodies. Over the years, the Canadian band has delivered their kinetic brand of rock and roll live to thousands, toured the world with bands such as Modest Mouse, Kings Of Leon, The Walkmen and Queens of the Stone Age, and released several albums, garnering praise from everyone from Pitchfork toRolling Stone and Spin who described their sound as “aggressively exuberant funk-punk.”

The band’s latest album Future Breeds is a call to action. After leaving their previous label, the foursome stripped away all the unnecessary elements in their lives, built their own studio in Vancouver, and emerged renewed and recharged. The resulting record is at once propulsive and volcanic, and fueled, as ever, by candy-coated melodies that hurl you through Bays' lyrical world.

Since its founding in 2004 by Jeff Castelaz and Peter Walker,Dangerbird has grown to include six divisions — records, management, music publishing, merchandising, licensing and a recording studio. The Dangerbird Records roster includes Grammy-nominated Silversun Pickups, Sea Wolf, Minus the Bear, Darker My Love, Eulogies, Codeine Velvet Club and others. Dangerbird Management represents Eagles of Death Metal, The Fratellis, producer Tony Hoffer and others. Dangerbird’s licensing arm represents outside artists such as Portugal. The Man, Boxer Rebellion and others.
