Shit Robot has announced details of his live show, The Shit Robot Show. The live AV show features Shit Robot performing inside a customized screen, which will feature custom-designed visuals to accompany a selection of re-worked tracks from Shit Robot’s back catalogue. The debut U.S. performances will take place at SXSW in Austin,
followed by several other U.S. tour dates, including two spots opening for
LCD Soundsystem at Terminal 5.
On February 21, Shit Robot released a limited edition remix 12” (on white vinyl!) on DFA Records. It features remixes of previous singles "Tuff Enuff" and "Take Em Up" by Michael Mayer and John Talabot. On the A-side is Germany's Michael Mayer's epically inventive take on "Tuff Enuff." Less muscular than Lambkin's original, the remix softens things up by placing supple keys under the hardened exterior. The climax is an otherworldly listening experience that literally builds to take off.
On the flip, John Talabot's remix of "Take Em Up" starts like a laidback house party that builds just enough energy when it's relocated under disco lights. The haunting opening -- a swirling, ghostly blend of elliptical vocals and handclaps -- leads to a sonic journey that is as smooth as it is wholly entrancing.
The original versions of both are featured on Shit Robot’s debut album,
From The Cradle To The Rave, which is out now on DFA Records.
