Dappled Cities Debut At #1 On The Australian Independent Music Charts Sophomore Record Zounds Out On Dangerbird Records September 15th

Rolling Stone (Australia) 4 Stars “Equal parts epic and ambitious, this is clearly their bid to hit the big time”
The Mag: “…their third LP finds them sitting on te cusp of international success. Effortly weaving between lush guitar pop, swirling synths and stadium sized indie rock”
Pitchfork: “Dappled Cities are a mature band with a highly evolved sense of songcraft and arrangement. Aside from merely writing them, they know how to inhabit songs and make them breathe.” http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/10302-granddance/

Filter: “When the eclecticism of Clap Your Hands… meets the epic mindfuck of Arcade Fire — and it’s all fueled by Australia’s notoriously noxious spirit — all you can say is, “Duck.” http://www.filter-mag.com/index.php?id=14622&c=3

Spin: “As stripped-down Dappled Cities instrumentation can get, Granddance swells with a full-bodied atmosphere that envelops every chord.”

“Granddance is forever vacillating between kooky, electronic levity and low-fi texture, and contains traces of the Flaming Lips and Grandaddy and slight tresses of the Shins.” http://spin.com/articles/dappled-cities

Since the release of Gypsy Punks in 2005, Gogol Bordello has been circling the globe igniting the international community with their frenzied brand of anarchic mayhem. LIVE FROM AXIS MUNDIcaptures the energy of Gogol Bordello's now legendary live show from two sold-out nights at Irving Plaza in New York City filmed in 2007. The package features live performances of "Start Wearing Purple," "Ultimate," "Not A Crime" and the ultimate encore song "Baro Foro" as well as music videos for "Start Wearing Purple," "Not A Crime," "Wonderlust King," "American Wedding," bonus chronicles and extra tracks.

Gogol Bordello's unique gypsy-punk sound grew out of the immigrant experiences of frontman Eugene Hutz, a Ukrainian forced from his home by 1986's Chernobyl nuclear disaster. Hutz lived in Hungary, Austria, and Italy before settling in New York City and founding Gogol Bordello in 1999. Since that time, Gogol Bordello has been steadily packing in bigger and bigger venues and wowing festival stages around Europe, Asia and North America including Coachella, Glastonbury, Roskilde Festival in Denmark, Fuji Rock in Japan and a performance at last year's Live Earth at Wembley Stadium in the UK.

Gogol Bordello has earned near universal praise as one of the best live acts around. Here's what the press say about Gogol Bordello:

"The musicianship of this New York-based gypsy-punk collective is often dazzling, creating a culture-clash fusion of dub flamenco and other styles that reflects the dizzying immigrant experience." -- Los Angeles Times

"Eugene Hutz and crew are making the most original and exciting music around. It's like a three-day Gypsy wedding in a faraway junkyard, with the Dead Kennedys and Cyclecide bike club presiding." -XLR8R

"While other bands are trying to work out whether the '60s or the '70s was best for music, Gogol Bordello know it's somewhere between 3AM and 6AM, when vision blurs, bodies whirl, and the world - all of it - suddenly begins to make sense." -NME

"...blending Eastern European Gypsy styling and a punk rock sensibility into a ferocious frenzied sound that has no real peer or progenitor in pop music." -- Billboard Magazine

"Gogol Bordello are the world's most perfect festival band." - Entertainment Weekly

"Gogol Bordello could become, as the Clash was, 'the only band that matters.'" - Orange County Register

Gogol Bordello is gearing up for another global stomp in October. See below for complete tour details. Tickets for all U.S. and Canada shows are on-sale now, check out www.gogolbordello.com for more information.

BLIND PILOT EXPANDS FALL TOUR WITH NEW HEADLINING DATES

“…the same distinctly Pacific Northwest mellow of regional progenitors like

Death Cab For Cutie and Elliott Smith.” — The Onion

“…a bright and simple quality that’s undeniably captivating.” —WXPN’s “World Café”

“Soaring, solid genius…their success is all but guaranteed.” —Seattle Weekly

Rising Portland-based band Blind Pilot will expand their fall tour with 18 new dates beginning November 13 in Burlington, VT. Acclaimed singer-songwriter Laura Veirs will open for Blind Pilot on the new dates, which include performances at New York City’s Bowery Ballroom, Philadelphia’s World Café Live and Chicago’s Lincoln Hall. The band is touring in support of their full-length debut 3 Rounds and a Sound, which earned the band performances on national radio (NPR’s “Morning Edition” and “All Songs Considered”), national television (“Last Call with Carson Daly”) and a spot on this year’s bill for the esteemed NPR Music Showcase at SXSW in Austin, TX. The album, available now on Expunged Records, received praise from USA Today, the Boston Globe, the New York Post and the Philadelphia Inquirer, which calls the music “…a rustic reverie.” Additionally, the track “Go On, Say It” was recently selected as the Single of the Week on iTunes.

Blind Pilot will begin the first leg of their tour with special guests The Low Anthem next month and recently wrapped up a summer tour, which included opening slots for The Decemberists, Andrew Bird and the acclaimed British rock band Gomez. Blind Pilot also recently played sets at this year’s Lollapalooza, Sasquatch!, Rocky Mountain Folks Festival and Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival and will perform at the upcoming Sisters Folk Festival and headline Portland’s Crystal Ballroom as part of Musicfest NW. Please see below for a full list of dates.

Nothing spotlights Blind Pilot’s building success like their touring history. In 2007, Blind Pilot’s founding members Israel Nebeker (vocals, guitar) and Ryan Dobrowski (drums) embarked on a West Coast bicycle tour playing mostly to unfamiliar listeners at small-town venues. The venturesome duo has since come a long way from their grassroots inception. This summer, Nebeker and Dobrowski rounded out Blind Pilot’s lineup as a six-piece with fellow Oregonians Luke Ydstie (upright bass, backing vocals), Kati Claborn (banjo, dulcimer, backing vocals), Ian Krist (vibraphones) and Dave Jorgensen (keyboards, trumpet).

WAVVES TURN "PUNK-ROCK ON ITS HEAD" AS FALL TOUR LAUNCHES

Last weekend Wavves played some of the first shows with new drummer Zach Hill. The response they got was outstanding.

"BLOOD-CURDLING" WAVVES

RAVES FOR RECENT LA AND SAN FRANCISCO DATES

Wavves fall tour is off to a great start with raves rolling in for performances at LA's FYF Fest and a Labor Day show in San Francisco. These shows mark the first of over two dozen dates for low-fi wunderkind Nathan Williams and new drummer Zach Hill. Check out some great quotes below.

"Rarely does a band find more sonic fidelity at an outdoor festival... than on record, but songs from Williams' blood-curdling album "Wavves" came into unexpectedly enjoyable focus during his set."
- LA Times "Pop & Hiss Blog"

"Williams cracked a few jokes, and played a mix of songs both old, recent, and brand new, while [new drummer Zach Hill] worked his arms into a fury of rhythmic distortion equivalent to the heavy guitar fuzz that coats Wavves' ebullient, noisy bangers."
- LA Weekly

"[Wavves] all-too brief set fell somewhere between the noise noodling of Sonic Youth, the extended hollers of Creep-era Radiohead, and the distorted yollers of a little band called Nirvana. This was punk-rock turned on its head ... tinged with a healthy screen of art rock that elevated the music from the standard to the unforgettable."" - San Francisco Weekly blog

NYC - TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 8 SOBS CONCERT PRESENTS : BLK JKS ALBUM RELEASE PARTY/SHOW

BLK JKS AFTER ROBOTS
TO BE RELEASED SEPTEMBER 8,
AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER NOW

INITIAL FALL TOUR DATES CONFIRMED

“Fiery guitars, dark jams: Africa’s best new band.”—Rolling Stone

“African electric rock, unconcerned with boundaries.”—New York Times

BLK JKS’ highly anticipated full-length debut After Robots will be released September 8 on Secretly Canadian. Pre-order for the release, which is available now via Secretly Canadian mail order and at participating stores, includes a poster and a free digital download of the MYSTERY remix 12” tracks (please see link below). BLK JKS, whose recent concert is described by the Los Angeles Times as “one of the most explosive and genuinely thrilling shows L.A. has seen in a very long time,” will embark on a national tour in support of After Robots. (Please see below for a schedule of confirmed performances; more dates will be announced shortly.)

Exclusive first listen of the song “Banna Ba Modimo” is available at RollingStone.com: http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/29558087/artist_to_watch_2009_blk_jks

Following the March release of their MYSTERY EP and return appearance at South by Southwest, South Africa’s BLK JKS are receiving critical praise from The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, SPIN, The New Yorker, Washington Post, LA Weekly, Time Out New York, New York Daily News and Under the Radar, among others. Amidst all this critical praise the essence of BLK JKS’ music—a collision of township blues, fringe jazz and renegade dub, heard via the lens of prog—shines through. Music from Africa has never sounded like this, as BLK JKS bring the concept of afro-futurism into a new century.

After Robots was recorded January in Bloomington, IN as BLK JKS traded a South African summer for winter in America and burrowed in for marathon recording sessions of one live take after the next. Brandon Curtis of Secret Machines returned to join the band at the controls and Hypnotic Brass Ensemble appears on several tracks with the swagger of aggressive horn stabs, but throughout After Robots is an original BLK JKS affair—a distinctly South African vision of rock’s global travel and the possibility of what it can sound like from here on out.

BLK JKS first came to the U.S. in the spring of 2008 after a chance meeting with über-producer Diplo while he was on tour in South Africa. The band’s appearance on the cover of the Fader, as well as highly acclaimed sets at South by Southwest, sparked recording sessions at New York’s famed Electric Lady studios that resulted in the MYSTERY EP. They have gone on to share stages in North America and Europe with a celebrated and disparate array of artists including Femi Kuti, Santigold, Dirty Projectors, Michael Franti and Cody Chesnutt; they have played Sasquatch and Soweto Arts Festival; and drummer Tshepang Ramoba has been celebrated by Billboard as “the best musician” at SXSW.

BLK JKS consists of childhood friends Lindani Buthelezi and Mpumi Mcata who grew up on the same block in Johannesburg’s East Rand where they taught themselves guitar. After the band’s current lineup took shape with the addition of bassist Molefi Makananise and drummer Tshepang Ramoba, both of Soweto, they embarked on a schedule of heavy touring throughout South Africa that earned them a loyal national following.

San Francisco guitar man Chuck Prophet

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckIKGpudOvI

San Francisco guitar man Chuck Prophet, who wrote a series of incredible songs examining the contradictions of American life during the recession, having been through a boom we didn't even know about. He decided to gain some perspective by recording it outside of the US, and liked the frenetic energy of Mexico City. In the process, a film crew followed his adventures down there, and he ran into a swine flu pandemic, electrical blackouts, and a major earthquake.
